Working for Edinburgh West
We have two councillors Kate Mackenzie (Ward 1 - Almond) and Jeremy Balfour (Ward 6 - Corstorphine/Murrayfield) who have for many years worked to assist and represent the electors in their wards.
Our Westminster Candidate Stewart Geddes is 47, married with two children and lives in the constituency. Stewart was born in Glasgow but grew up in Brazil, returning to Scotland as a teenager, he completed his education in Scotland before joining a major Scottish Bank, for whom he still works. He first became formally involved in politics at the 2001 General Election and this was followed by periods as Chairman of a Conservative Association then as a District Councillor before seeking adoption as a Parliamentary candidate. In his spare time, Stewart spends time with his family, rides his motorcycle and enjoys outdoor pursuits such as hill walking, skiing and walking the dogs.
Speaking since his selection Stewart said:
I was delighted to be selected to contest the Edinburgh West Constituency. I am working closely with the two local Councillors and campaign on issues that affects everyone in the area. Whenever I meet people there is a real desire for change and unhappiness with a tired and discredited government and I have been meeting with many people across the Constituency and enjoy discussing my positive vision for Edinburgh West. From Corstorphine to Cramond, Murrayfield to Kirkliston, South Queensferry to Drumbrae, Newbridge to Barnton and Cramond to Ratho.
