Over the last couple of weeks we have seen the opinion polls narrowing and talk
of a hung Parliament has emerged. This is a very bad thing for our country and I
will continue to campaign for a Conservative victory on the 6th May or whenever
the Prime Minister gets round to calling the Election.
While the media may get quite excited about the prospect, it is important to
note that economically this would be a disaster for the country. Since the polls
narrowed the pound has collapsed in value and the cost of Government borrowing
has soared, adding millions of pounds to the annual cost of servicing Gordon
Brown’s deficit, reducing the amount left to pay for essential services. The
fact of the matter is that interest rates only stayed low because the market
expected a Conservative victory.
If we are to have a strong Government that can restore our economic strength,
generates the taxes that pay for our social services, and supports our military,
then we need to have a Conservative Government with a strong majority.
We in Edinburgh West can help with this by returning a Conservative MP who, as
part of the Government, can actually get things done and influence decisions
from within Government, rather than the opposition benches.
The Liberals can never form a Government.  At the European elections last year,
the Conservative vote was within 2% of winning. That is less than 1000 votes of
a difference.
Vote Conservative as a positive choice for change and to rebuild our country.

A vote for anyone else changes nothing.
