Councillor Kate Mackenzie announces plans to stand down in 2012

Monday, 26 September, 2011

After twelve years representing the interests of local people in the City Chambers, Councillor Kate Mackenzie has made the decision to stand down from the council.

Kate was first elected as the councillor for Cramond ward in 1999 and since May 2007 has been representing local residents in Davidson’s Mains, Cramond; Barnton; Silverknowes, Cammo, Queensferry, Kirkliston, Newbridge, Ratho Station and Dalmeny in the larger ward of Almond.

Kate said, “I have enjoyed meeting and representing local residents of Almond ward and have always been happy to take on both personal issues and more substantial ward issues- of which there have been many over the years since 1999.

Until the elections in May 2012 I will obviously continue to work for Almond residents and will make sure that Lindsay becomes familiar with the issues of the ward.

I have known Lindsay for ten years and was delighted that the local Conservative members chose her as my successor. I have no doubts that Lindsay will easily take up the baton with youthful vigour, and will continue the good work for local residents”.
